ScareLA 2016 & 2015

Posted by admin in Past Halloweens

So it’s July 18th & I decided to go to ScareLA for sure again.  I carefully compared the programming & classes for Midsummers & ScareLA & I chose ScareLA because of the location, time and most importantly the type of classes offered & the amount of mini haunts showcased.  Midsummers seems more like a general fan show, which is super awesome & I’d have fun at anyways but Scare is more established & offers more advanced & specific classes geared to haunt owners.  So that was an easy choice.  It also seemed like the classes were more intimate & of a make-and-take nature vs. a lecture.  Maybe next year I’ll check out Midsummers.
Stayed at Chads & I’ll miss them now that they’ve moved to Hawaii.  He took me to shabu shabu for 1st time.  I remember he was literally getting approved for the Hawaii house as we were eating.

I realized I never wrote down some memories for ScareLA 2015.  I got the tix for Cat & I for only $30 each, and we had the full class pass one too!  I was Twisty the Clown of course.  I’ll probably be twisty one day & then Samara the next day for this year.

So we skipped the big ass line up outside cuz he had the pimp passes but we still had a line up inside for something else. Right away it was class time & we split up… I was in animatronics & Cat was in Haunted LA graveyards or something like that . Most of the day was a blur of classes & the showfloor, but mainly classes. We did the zombie clown makeup class where I made Cat into a… zombie clown, lol. I think we watched Urban Death that day too; it was a mini show.  The next day was a blur too…. lots of the same, classes, showfloor, and then we did all the lil mini haunts at once.  Lastly we went to the AHS Freak Show panel before I had to leave back to Vegas.
Best Class: painting techniques
Only complaint:  There’s not enough time to do everything.  I didn’t see any of the panels because I was in classes. Too much overlap with so much programming.  15 mins in between classes is not enough time to go over to the show floor or see a panel.
Didn’t even go into the screening room at all! This year I may bring my lunch like a schoolkid just so I don’t have more time to experience everything.
